Bembridge Lifeboat Station

A visit to Bembridge Lifeboat Station certainly provides the ‘wow’ factor. From our magnificent Tamar Class All-weather and brand new D-class inshore boats, to the fabulous architecture of the new offshore boathouse and the stunning views from the boathouse windows, there is plenty to interest young minds at our station. Group visits are always welcome at any time to suit your convenience, during the day, in the evening, or at the weekend. Whether you are looking for a purely recreational visit, or if you wish to gear your experience to a particular theme, we can cater for your needs. From our team of highly experienced volunteer guides, we can offer presentations tailored to your requirements; KS1 and KS2 science (floating and sinking, materials etc), KS1 and KS2 history (background of the RNLI or our local station), aspects of PSCHEE, and KS1 and KS2 numeracy and literacy, can each be accommodated if required.

Booking for group visits is advisable throughout the year, so we can ensure your visit is personalised to your individual needs; it is essential during the months of the summer term in order to avoid double booking. The booking procedure is handled for you by Activity Island, who communicate with us to ensure you have the best possible visitor experience. Depending on your choice of theme for your visit, tours usually take between 45 and 60 minutes. There is disabled access to the public viewing areas of the station; public conveniences can be found adjacent to our offshore walkway and our small RNLI shop can be opened for you at your request, selling a good range of souvenirs in the ‘pocket money’ price range. There is no entry fee to the station, and the guided tour is free, but donations to the RNLI are always welcome.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bembridge Lifeboat Station.
